This is a weird Christmas for me. It’s my first Christmas without family and close friends. And it’s been years since I’ve celebrated Christmas abroad. When I was little I celebrated Christmas once or twice in Madrid, but still with my family. I’m celebrating this Christmas with friends in LA. I’ve met wonderful people over here! But still I’m missing my family and dearest friends back in NL. It’s gonna be weird celebrating Christmas without them.
Every Western culture has it’s own Christmas traditions. Here in the US people only celebrate Christmas on Christmas day on Dec 25th. In NL we also celebrate the Second Christmas day on the 26th. Bu this year I only get one Christmas day and Christmas Eve. I will be spending the day before Christmas at the beach. That’s maybe the biggest difference comparing to NL! Instead of snow and cold, there’s gonna be sun and bikini’s (26C/79F!). And as a sun addict, I love that! So I can’t wait Christmas to start :)
