On my last day before departure, I’m writing my last blog from the Netherlands. This last month was full of ‘the last time I …’. Because of it was the last time of everything here in the Netherlands for this year and all of it was so much fun! So take a look into my ‘Lasts’:
The last day at work
October 31st was my last day at work. It was weird to say goodbye to all of my co-workers. Especially because it was still over a month before I would head to LA. Right after my last day of work, my co-workers and I got together for a drink or two. Or three… ;)
Of course the goodbye party had a Hollywood theme. There was also a reward for the best dressed guest. Two of my female co-workers stepped into the bar like they were entering the Chinese Movie Theater at the Oscars night. They looked like Bond-girls! Clearly both of them were winners and they won a bottle of Prosecco. After all, I quit partying at 7 am. So I can say it was a good and long lasting last-day-of-work-party!
The last month
Two words: tension and relaxing. I had November off from work, but there was still so much to arrange! I am not gonna bore you with all the details, but was pretty stressful. With all kind of stuff you think of at the very last moment. I still had to look for an apartment and a car in LA, I had a couple of additional work related tasks and of course I wanted some quality time with my friends. To escape from the busyness and to enjoy my month of ‘vacation’, I often went out for a drink to spend time with my friends. The final drink was at my own Hollywood Glam Party (part II ;)).
The last weekend
The start of the last weekend, was the start of saying goodbye to friends & family and pre-birthday action. It all started with my Hollywood Glam Party at the cocktail bar Ushiwawa. At the groovy beats of the event ‘Losjes‘ (loosely), we had a great time. It felt like it was my birthday already :D But at the same time I started to say goodbye to people. And that was when it hit me; I AM going away for a couple of months and I am really gonna miss some people out here. But at the same time it felt as the start of a new and exciting adventure!
What is a Hollywood party without an Oscar? Also at this party the best dressed Hollywood guest got rewarded. One of my best friends – who lived in LA on and off for the last couple years – was dressed as a total Hollywood star. So she was the lucky winner of the Oscar statuette.
After the party night, the goodbye party was not over yet. My best friend gave me a tattoo for my birthday, so we went to a tattoo shop. Actually, I’m not a tattoo girl at all. But since I realize that I’m a lucky girl and I am very grateful for that, I wanted to eternize it with a symbol. So I got a tattoo of a four leaf clover on my waist. Thus luck will always be on my side ;p Like I said, I’m not really a tattoo girl and that’s why I got it in white. In this way the tattoo is more discrete and feminine. It hurt a little, and on some places a lot, but I’m really happy with it! This one is checked off of my bucket list. I ended the weekend with more chatting, dining, dancing and very much fun.
The last days
My sister took me on a birthday date again (lots of b-day occasions this year). It felt weird that everything I did during these last days, was for the last time. And time was not on my side on those days.
Two days ago I arranged the last things like my car in LA and a hotel for the first two nights. I finished packing all my stuff, while I was watching ‘The Hills‘ to get in the LA vibe. Normally I start packing way ahead when I am going on vacation. Now that I am going away for three months and I am packing last-minute. But… I’m ready to go! Just one last night in my bed and let the LA life begin :)
This last month I realized with all ‘the last times’ the saying ‘Live every day like it’s your last‘ really makes sense. If you think you’re doing something for the last time, you’ll get so much more out of it. So live every day like there’s no tomorrow! :)
